Our Approach
OUR SECRET TO SUCCESS
The success of this organization has been due to the company’s foresight in not only providing an efficient, professional service during a time when the existing public health care services were unable to adequately satisfy the needs of the public but also in its ability to put people first by recognizing that our employees are our greatest assets. The majority of our employees have been with us for over 40 years thereby creating an atmosphere of home away from home and for this reason we have been able to serve generations.
It all begins with the people, our staff is committed to the best in class healthcare available. We then back that up by using the latest technologies available to provide you with reliable and effective treatment during your time of need.

Our Founder
Mrs. Margaret Seymour Whitehead
August 3rd, 1923 - May 6th, 2018
She is remembered as a very simple, humble lady, who put God first in all things. She was always generous and would never turn away anyone who was in need of help, medical or otherwise.
Her legacy, apart from the heart that beats within Victoria Nursing Home and the services that have branched from it, is that of pure kindness, sound business acumen, a strong sense of loyalty and integrity. She was also no stranger to hard work.
History
The Spark
Margaret Seymour Whitehead was born on August 3rd, 1923 in Barbados. She moved to Trinidad at an early age. As she grew into ladyhood, she became involved in the banking sector, which inadvertently created the spark within her to go into the medical service. During her time in banking, she would assist her sister in law, Mrs. Doris Campbell at the Parks Nursing home in St. Clair. This lead her to noticing a gap, where high quality health care was needed that was affordable to a larger part of the population.
The Founding
Victoria Nursing Home was registered on December 31st, 1954 and was originally located on Circular Road, San Fernando. This was no easy feat to accomplish as most business at this time was dominated by men, and a for a female, breaking through this barrier was significant.
The nursing home was operated here during the first few years, then a permanent home was found. In 1962, Mrs. Whitehead purchased the land located on Archibald Street, Vistabella, where we, Victoria Nursing Home, currently stand.
The legacy
Victoria Nursing Home is now a pillar in the landscape that is San Fernando. It is an institution like no other, as it was the lamp that led others to follow in its footsteps. Victoria Nursing home boasts of being the first of its kind in South Trinidad, the first to offer many services to the populations of this area, and in many cases, the first to provide technological advances in medicine, not only to south, but to the country.
Many prominent members of our society, public figures, people of every facet of our melting pot society were born in the hallowed medical institution that is Victoria Nursing Home.
With over 67 years of healthcare experience and excellence, Victoria has become a trusted household name in Trinidad and Tobago.
Victoria Nursing Home not only boasts of being affiliated with the best Doctors, but has also given many of them their start to becoming the Doctors that they are. Some of them have even gone on to open their own Medical Institutions. It began with Mrs. Margaret Whitehead and her vision.
To this day, Victoria Nursing Home, remains to many, “a home away from home, where patients are treated like family.”
From the Roots Grew the tree
From Victoria Nursing Home, there were more needs of the population that had to be met. This led to the founding of Victoria Labs, Victoria CT Scan Services and Victoria Diagnostic Imaging Services.
Mrs. Margaret Whitehead, played an essential and fundamental role in the formation of each of these and she continued to serve as a Director and Shareholder in each of these to the age of 95.
All of these have now become known as trusted and affordable services by our patients, each commanding respect in their own right, but also backed by the name that is Victoria Nursing Home.
The Way Forward
Victoria Nursing Home continues to be a trailblazer in the medical landscape of Trinidad & Tobago.
Continued investments in people and technology have ensured it remains at the forefront, providing the best in comfort, diagnostics and treatment to our patient.
